News - Another project participant, breeding successes

With Wolfgang Heinrichs, the project has gained another experienced and committed aquarist. He takes care of the existing pair of Scleromystax kronei from the project.

The pair has successfully spawned several times at E. Schiller, but unfortunately not one juvenile fish has hatched from the resulting spawn of approx. 300 eggs. Since the water parameters were probably unfavourable, we decided to pass the S. kronei on to W. Heinrichs.

Our project member Roman Lechner has now achieved a great success. He succeeded in hatching a not insignificant number of Scleromystax prionotos. The little catfish are only 3 weeks old. We hope that the young animals will not get into any difficulties during rearing, as S. prionotos is the species that is most threatened with extinction.
